"The American Takes Top Spot At Weekend Box Office"
George Clooney's "The American" pulled ahead of "Machete" as the No. 1 movie in America, according to Sunday box office estimates. The Focus Features film earned $12.9 million, while Sony Screen Gems' "Takers" -- which led the box office last weekend -- came in No. 2 with $11.4 million. "Machete," slipped to third with $11.3 million. Early Friday estimates had put it ahead of "The American," when it made $3.9 million to Clooney's $3.8 million. (But The Hollywood Reporter wrote Saturday that Clooney's film would likely win the Labor Day weekend box office war because it would attract more couples on date night than Robert Rodriguez's gory genre pic.) Rounding out the top five was Lionsgate's "Last Exorcism," with $7.5 million, or $32.3 cumulative. "Going the Distance," which stars Drew Barrymore and on-again/off-again love interest Justin Long, made $6.9 million.

Grammy-winning R&B singer Faith Evans has been officially charged with two counts of DUI stemming from her arrest last month. The widow of rapper Notorious B.I.G. was arrested and booked Aug. 21 at a DUI checkpoint near the Marina Del Rey section of L.A. after officers detected alcohol. Singer/rapper Lauryn Hill, who has been in high demand since the release of her debut album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, over a decade ago, says new album is close."We're getting closer," she tells MTV news. "We're getting closer. That's all I can say." The star, who started her comeback via the Rock the Bells Tour, also says shes focused on her voice and ideas for the new project, stating she hasnt thought about collaborations. "I have respect for what people do," Hill said tells MTV. "I also like to hear the eclectics; I like to hear the mixture. There's a lot of different creative energies out there right now. I respect the different sounds that I'm hearing. It's been such a long time since I've gotten my voice and my ideas [out]. In terms of collaborations, that's not even something I've been thinking about per se. I'm happy that people are still making music. That we still have a platform with which to make music. It's gonna be interesting to see what the future holds." Hill also tells the outlet that there is a lot going on but its good for music. "It's a lot going on," Hill said. "It's interesting energy. It's not what it was, it's different. That doesn't necessarily means it's a bad thing it's a different thing. Just like any new opportunity, it's ripe for a lot of different things. You got a lot of young talent out there. Because we don't necessarily have the same sort of industry complex that used to exist, people don't always give, I want to say, proper respect to. But they're doing it in a really kind of unusual, unique and hard-core way. Because the system is not necessarily in place like it used to be."

"Diddy Gets Sued By Former Employee"
A former Bad Boy employee is accusing the Bad Boy CEO of unfairly firing her due to her advanced age. Fifty-one-year-old Francesca Spero has filed an age discrimination lawsuit Wednesday in federal court in Manhattan. Spero claims she fired after having hip surgery and confiding to an executive that she was treated for a drug dependency relapse and replaced with someone younger. Spero claims she introduced Combs to hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and future Uptown Records CEO Andre Harrell in 1988 and that she worked at Combs' Bad Boy Entertainment record label as an executive for 12 years before being fired in March. She was eventually replaced by a woman over 10 years younger, whom she alleges 'lacked the skill set and experience Spero brought to the position.' Spero claims Diddy and his partners owe her $12 million in damages for age and disability discrimination.

"Kanye West Working On Movie To Accompany Album"
Someone close to Kanye West revealed this week that he is working on a movie that will accompany his upcoming new album, Dark Twisted Fantasy. Photos from the set surface on blogs Wednesday (September 1), confirming what the source told MTV News. While its unclear what kind of scene the photos were from, it looks to be in between takes from filming, and in one West is walking over to a waiting deer. "On set of the movie," 'Ye wrote in a Twitter message last week, confirming what is seen in the photos. "This doe just refuses to sit still. ... I told the deer ... 'what would Bambi do?' & she looked at me like I was crazy." According to further tweets, West was shooting in Prague, where he shot scenes for an unknown number of 16-hour days."Been shooting 16 hour days. ... I'm so excited. ... It's like a child's delusions become reality," he tweeted. Further details about the accompanying movie were not known at press time, nor has West officially commented on the project either. This wouldn't be the first time that West has delved into film. His last album, 808s and Heartbreaks, featured the Spike Jones-directed short film "We Were Once A Fairytale."

"Plaxico Denied Work Release"
Imprisoned former NFL star Plaxico Burress has reportedly been denied a chance to participate in his jails work release program. The former New York Giants player, currently serving a two-year sentence for illegal gun possession after accidentally shooting himself at a NY nightclub, had requested a temporary release so he could play football again.But according to reports, authorities in Albany, NY turned down his request, stating, The serious and negative impact illegal guns have on the community coupled with dangerous nature of the weapon discharging in a public place renders him unsuitable for work release participation. He has the right to appeal, but otherwise cannot reapply for a work furlough until June 6, 2011, the date that he can apply for full release assuming that he gets time off for good behavior. According to the NY Dept of Correctional Services, the work release program allows certain inmates to leave a work release correctional facility for a period of several days at a time for community preparation.

Police say Rapper T.I. and wife Tameka Cottle have been arrested in West Hollywood on drug charges.Los Angeles sheriff's deputy Mark Pope says the arrests for possession of a controlled substance came late Wednesday night during a traffic stop, when officers smelled alleged marijuana smoke coming from their vehicle. He says the 29-year-old T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., and Cottle, a 36-year-old singer, were booked at the West Hollywood sheriff's station and bail was set at $10,000.Pope says he's not sure if they were still being held early this morning.

"Xzibit Gets Guest Spot In New TV Drama"
Rapper/TV personality Xzibit Xzibit is returning to television with a role on the new crime drama "Detroit 1-8-7" this fall. X-To-The-Z will play a hustler-turned-businessman named Russell Pitts in an episode of the gritty drama and it hasn't been determined whether his character will be recurring. The series stars Michael Imperioli (Detective Louis Fitch), Aisha Hinds (Lt. Maureen Mason), James McDaniel (Sgt. Jesse Longford) and others, and producers have indicated that they would like for artists to become a regular feature on the show. Xzibit will also be appearing on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" this fall.

Toni Braxton's Nevada home appears to be listed as a foreclosure. Braxton has had financial troubles for years starting with a bankruptcy filing way back in 1998 and this isn't the first time her name has popped up on our foreclosure radar. Last year TMZ reported that she was facing foreclosure on a Century City condo. The six-time Grammy winner and her husband, Keirston"Keri" Lewis bought the home in Henderson, NV home in 2007 for $2.6 million. The couple separated late last year. The home is listed as a foreclosure on Realtor.com for $1.15 million. Listing pictures show that the home has been completely cleaned out. Contrary to earlier reports, it looks like T.I.'s heist flick Takers was in fact #1 in total grosses this past weekend. The Last Exorcism came in a close second and the total numbers were neck-and-neck.If the numbers do hold up, it would mark the third number one film for producer Will Packer after Obsessed with Idris Elba and Beyonce, and Stomp The Yard with Columbus Short and Chris Brown.Playing in 2,206 theaters and starring Idris Elba, Michael Ealy, Chris Brown, Matt Dillon, Hayden Christensen, and T.I., the heist film took in $21 million at the gate with an average of $9,519 per theater. Many box office analysts predicted the film would take in less than $10 million for the entire weekend.The numbers are expected to go up, but anything is bound to change in Hollywood.

"Felony Charges Filed Against Paris Hilton"
Clark County, Nev., prosecutors have filed a felony charge against Paris Hilton in connection to her arrest in Las Vegas early Saturday morning on suspicion of cocaine possession, CNN reports. She will be arraigned on Oct. 27.On Friday night, the 29-year-old socialite-heiress was a passenger in a black Cadillac Escalade, which was pulled over when an officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver, Hiltons boyfriend Cy Waits, allegedly said he was the one smoking marijuana and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. While police searched the vehicle for drugs, Hilton was escorted by a police lieutenant to a nearby hotel to use the restroom and shield her from the crowd that was gathering at the scene. It was there that police discovered a plastic bag of cocaine in her purse. Hilton said the cocaine and the purse were not hers and that she thought the plastic bag was gum. She did, however, claim ownership of other contents in the purse, including a broken tablet of Albuterol (commonly used to treat asthma), $,1300 in cash, and credit cards in her name.Hiltons lawyer, David Chesnoff, released the following statement: This matter will be dealt with in the courts, not in the media, and I encourage people not to rush to judgment until all of the facts have been dealt with in a court of law.

According to various reports, including TMZ, basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is upset with Upper Deck, a trading card company, and is suing them for $1 million. According to the suit, Upper Deck used six photos of Abdul-Jabbar during his college years without permission. The photos were part of a trading card series called "Greats of the Game," which also had Adul-Jabbar's name and signature. "Abdul-Jabbar never authorized the production of the cards," the suit reads according to Courthouse News. Over the weekend, new fright flick "The Last Exorcism" dethroned the action flick The Expendables to take the #1 slot. The Lionsgate horror film just barely edged out Sony's heist thriller "Takers," pulling in $21.3 million during his debut weekend."Takers" was right behind it, in at #2, with $21 million. "The Expendables" slipped to third place with $9.5 million, raising its total to $82 million; while "Eat Pray Love" slipped one spot to #4 with $7 million.And, closing out the top 5 this weekend was "The Other Guys," holding strong at that position with $6.6 million.

Oprah Winfrey reportedly wants to host the final episode of her long-running show in a football stadium. Shes planning a star-studded finale in September, 2011 when The Oprah Winfrey Show will end its 25 years run. Shell supposedly move the production from her Chicago studio to the citys 61,500 capacity Solder Field, the home of the Chicago Bears football team, in a bid to pack in a bigger audience. But Winfrey has admitted the notoriously unpredictable climate in Chicago could scupper plans for an open-air finale. I dont know if thats going to happen. "Young Buck Set Free... From His G-Unit Contract"
After complaining about being 'blacklisted' due to his contractual obligations to G-Unit Records, Young Buck has finally been released from his contract. 50 Cent has reportedly let his former G-Unit compatriot out of his deal, which means Buck can officially release music on his own. In April 2008 50 Cent announced on Hot 97 that Young Buck was kicked out the group, but was still contractually signed to G-Unit. Since that time, Buck has been unable to release any commercial music. "Mos Def Is Getting Sued"
A promoter has filed a lawsuit against Mos Def claiming the rapper/actor bailed out on a show just hours before showtime. According to reports, documents filed August 26th in L.A. County Superior Court claim that Mos was given an advance payment of $12,500 to perform at Kool Haus in Toronto, on February 25th earlier this year. REMG Entertainment claims Mos suddenly backed out of the concert without paying back the deposit. The company also claims that Mos Def's absence cost them another $45,000 in "lost customers, sales, and goodwill." REMG is planning to sue Mos and his affiliates for at least $57,500.

"Eminem Adds Full Band To Concert Tour"
Eminem will be joined onstage by a live band during his four-show tour with Jay-Z. The four shows will take place in New York and Detroit and feature two performances at New York's Yankee Stadium and two at Comerica Park in Detroit. "The production is very, very complicated, a lot of moving parts, because it's only the four shows," explained production director Dan Parise. "This is their vision," he said of the shows. "My job was to make it reality. But the concept, the idea, the messages they're trying to get across -- it's all theirs."The four dates are slated to be huge productions with heavy video elements and special effects created by some of the concert industry's top producers, who were brought in by Live Nation.

A promoter in Belgium is suing Akon for backing out of a concert after paying him $125,000 up front. According to reports, promoter Lofraco Belgium claims the singer and his booking agents signed a contract for the artist to perform in October of 2009 and were paid $125,000. But eight days before the concert, the promoter was told Akon had to cancel his appearance because of scheduling conflicts, the lawsuit states. The suit claims breach of contract, fraud and concealment and the plaintiff wants $250,000 in expenses back and punitive damages in the multi-millions.

"Tyler Perry Cleared Of Plagiarism"
Tyler Perry has been officially cleared of any plagiarism claims. On Monday, Aug. 23 at the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, the judge ruled against a woman, Donna West, who claimed Perry stole her idea for a movie The Diary of a Mad Black Woman. However, the judge ruled that no improper conduct occurred on the account of the filmmaker. West attempted to get Perry caught up back in 08 in a Texas court, but the judge concluded she lacked evidence that supported her claim. She said the movie was taken from her play, Fantasy of a Black Woman.The playwright launched an appeal against the verdict but on Monday, August 23, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled there was no improper conduct in the trial, according to the Associated Press.

R&B singer-songwriter Ne-Yo and his booking agent was ordered by a Maryland judge to pay more than $156,000 in damages because the entertainer pulled out of a booked appearance at a 2008 New Year's Eve concert in Washington state. Philip Caroom, an Anne Arundel County Circuit Judge, ruled for the payment Tuesday after a four-day trial in late July and early August, reports the Associated Press. Ne-Yo and Maryland promoter Mike Esterman were sued by Kenyohn Clark, who claimed that Esterman misled him and failed to return a $95,000 deposit. Court documents show Ne-Yo testified at trial that he knew in his "heart of hearts" that the deposit should have been returned. Jason Brino, Clark's attorney, says his client was "basically public enemy No. 1" after the botched concert and abandoned the promotion business to take a job as a military contractor.

Rapper/producer Pharell Williams' Ice Cream clothing line is locked in a court battle against clothing company Ice and Iceberg. The rapper filed a lawsuit against the Gilmar Group, the company the owns the popular Iceberg brand. According to the New York Post, Pharrell is suing the Gilmare Group because the company has blocked a trademark application for the rapper's Ice Cream clothing line. Gilmare believes that Pharrell's brands name is too similar to their own and could confuse customers. In Pharrell's lawsuit, lawyers for the rapper countered, claiming that the word "cream" - which means money - "creates a vastly different sound, appearance, meaning and overall commercial impression." Iceberg is a company that was founded in Italy in 1962 and opened its first showroom in New York in 1991. Pharrell Williams launched his Ice Cream collection in 2004, along with his other brand, Billionaire Boys Club. The brands help him earn over $13 million dollars from 2009-2010, according to data recently released by Forbes.

Super producer Timbaland went missing Tuesday afternoon (August 24), and relatives frantically called authorities, fearing he was contemplating suicide after he went off the deep end when he found out someone had stolen his $2 million watch. According to TMZ, the L.A. County Sherif's Department issued a "possible suicide attempt" APB for Timbo (real name: Timothy Zachery Mosley), dispatching a helicopter and squad cars to find his Escalade. Apparently, the producer had called his brother-in-law earlier in the day, who said he distraught over the theft of an expensive Jacob & Co. watch -- valued at $2 million -- from his Malibu, California home by someone he trusted. From there, he left his home ... and family members couldn't find him, so they called police. He was later found by police, pulled over, taken to his home, and later paramedics were called to his home to further evaluate him before determining he was not a threat to himself. After the report circulated, Timbaland called into a radio show in Los Angeles to address the situation, explaining that things were blown outta proportion. "I don't know what happened. To be honest with you, I don't even know what people were talking about," Timbo said on the air. "The only thing that I did was take a drive to figure out how to handle it. "I tell people that if my mom ain't calling or my brother or my best friend, then ain't nothing to worry about," he continued. "Why would I commit suicide? I could buy what was stolen. You know it's close in your family when it's things in your house." During the interview, he also said the stolen item was not a watch.

After presumably being denied a bid to run because he did not meet the country's residency requirements, Wyclef Jean has criticized the provisional election council (CEP), claiming the body violated Haiti's constitution when they disqualified him from the upcoming Presidential race. Wyclef may have been disqualified because he has not lived in the country for five consecutive years. "They violated the constitution to benefit their families and their friends who continue to live off the people's money," Jean said in the message to the Haitian media. "Are you going to continue to support people who do not respect the fundamental law of the country?" The CEP barred Jean and 15 others from running in the race, which will choose a new President on November 28th. In related news Samuel Pierre of the councils legal department told Reuters that, under article 191 of Haitis electoral law, rulings by the election authoritys disputes tribunal are definitive and cannot be appealed. Therefore there is absolutely no possibility for Wyclef Jean to be added to the list of candidates approved to run in the next presidential elections, Pierre said. So its over.

She'd been crying all day. Fantasia was just numb. Fantasia texted me, saying 'I love you.' I wrote back, 'I love you more.' For the second weekend in a row, Sylvester Stallone's newest action flick, "The Expendables", reigned supreme at the box office,the Stallone-directed film raked in $16.5 million this weekend, raising its two-week total to $64.9 million so far. In at #2 was the "Twilight" spoof, "Vampires Suck," pulling in $12.2 million, but took in $18.6 million since it opened Wednesday. The parody film, mocks the "Twilight" franchise with a story about a moody schoolgirl in a love triangle with a vampire and a werewolf. "Vampires Suck" just edged out the Julia Roberts drama "Eat Pray Love," which fell from #2 to #3 this week with $12 million. The Cube Vision comedy, "Lottery Ticket" debuts at #4 with $11.1 million. The widow of Notorious B.I.G, Faith Evans, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence.The famed singer was released today after being taken into police custody at an L.A. area checkpoint. Lawyers for Lil Wayne filed a lawsuit against Ujaama Talent Agency Inc. and the company's owners, Erskine Isaac, David Nelson on August 16th in the Supreme Court of the State of New York.According to the lawsuit, Lil Wayne has worked with the company since the early stages of his career, by organizing and scheduling tours for the chart-topping rap star on a non-exclusive basis. Between 2008 and January of 2010, Lil Wayne participated in four different tours with Ujaama. A dispute broke out between the two companies over the proceeds of the two "America's Most Wanted Music Festival" tours in Summer and Winter of 2009.Around October of 2009, when Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to possessing a gun on his tour bus, he again engaged the services of Ujaama to book a national tour before he went to jail on Rikers Island. The lawsuit claims that Isaac and Nelson "elected to divert to Ujaama's own bank account an amount not less than $375,000, the sum that Isaac and Nelson maintain is owed to Ujaama for the tours in question. Lil Wayne's lawyer Ronald Sweeney had various conversations with the pair and asked for the money back, but Isaac and Nelson refused to return the money. Just last week, Forbes named Lil Wayne the 4th best-earner in Hip-Hop, after he earned $20 million dollars over the past 12 months.

Lawyers from Michael Jacksons estate are celebrating after a New York judge dismissed a $300 million lawsuit filed by lawyers for Allgood Entertainment. The company accused Jackson and his agent Frank Dileo for reneging on planned Jackson Five shows and "secretly teaming up with AEG (Live) to produce a concert or series of concerts in London." According to TMZ, a judge sided with the Jacksons on Thursday, August 19, throwing out the lawsuit because the King of Pop and his brothers never signed off on the deal. According to Drizzy, Wayne will perform a concert for his awaiting fans on November 5th, the day after he's released from jail. The renown runway model is teaming up with Dolce & Gabbana to design a limited edition collection of t-shirts for her personal charity, Fashion for Relief. It is practically just copy/paste, says Heba Hallgrimsdottir, one of the owners of E-label. The designer of the black studded with metal spikes leggings, Asgrimur Mar Fridriksson, confirmed that Beyonce purchased the exact pair from their E-label brand at a branch of Topshop in London last November, stating it is a very strange coincidence. As to a lawsuit, Heba said her company needs to do more due diligence before going forward. I have only just heard about this and no decision has yet been taken. We need to inspect her brands trousers closer because, according to law, it is not copied if a certain number of things have been changed from the original design, Heba said. She added that Beyonces E-label leggings were bought from the Edit section of Topshop, which sell designs from little-known labels. Heba also states that E-label has not copyrighted its design, but believes that widespread media coverage of Beyonces purchase last November, both in Iceland and overseas, would be evidence enough to prove plagiarism if E-label eventually decides that the new design was indeed copied from their own.

A federal judge in Miami has allowed Kanye West to phone in his presence at a mediation session aimed at resolving a lawsuit filed against him by rap mogul Marion Suge Knight. Wests lawyers say he cant be there personally because of a long-standing business commitment outside the continental U.S., reports the Associated Press. The judge has agreed to permit West to take part in the Aug. 26 session by phone.Knight was shot in the leg at a 2005 Miami Beach party hosted by West, whom he blames for lax security. He is seeking more than $1 million in damages from West and his companies. West, Knight and their lawyers met in New York for six hours in June but failed to settle the case.The shooter has never been identified and the case is unsolved.

A judge in Illinois has dismissed a lawsuit which accused Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade of engaging in sexual foreplay in front of the NBA stars children. The athletes estranged wife Siohvaughn Wade filed papers earlier this year on behalf of the former couples two sons, aged eight and three, claiming Wade had engaged in extreme and outrageous conduct with Union in front of the kids.A spokesperson for Union denied the allegations, with Wade branding the claims meritless and an Illinois judge dismissed the case in court last week citing improper jurisdiction, according to published reports. The publicity Erykah Badu received when she appeared nude in the music video "Window Seat," which she release in March, definitely worked. But, it came with a price ... one that was probably worth the buzz she created. Last week, a Dallas city spokesperson said Badu paid a $500 fine and agreed to serve six months probation for the stunt. Shortly after the clip surfaced months ago, in which she is seen stripping nude as she walked through downtown Dallas (specifically, Dealey Plaza, the site of President John F. Kennedy's assassination in 1963), local authorities cited the singer for disorderly conduct after several citizens filed indecency complaints with police.City of Dallas public information officer Jose Torres said Badu's probation will end around February 2011, and she faces the revocation of her probation if she commits any city, state or federal offenses during her six-month term.The Texas native must also notify the court about any address changes within 10 days of moving. According to TMZ, Ice-T just scored a major legal victory against "the system" -- after Ice proved that he did have valid insurance on the day he was arrested for allegedly driving without it. As previously reported, Ice-T was pulled over on July 20 in New York City for allegedly not wearing a seat belt, and was then arrested after the computer discovered an "insurance lapse" from 2008. But today, the case was dismissed after prosecutors decided to back down ... after Ice proved that he had insurance the entire time -- and also showed that the DMV did not properly update its records. Outside of court, Ice and his lady Coco told us ... "We're going to Disneyland!"

"Lawsuit Filed Against Oprah Winfrey Network"
The Oprah Winfrey Network hasnt even launched yet and already a lawsuit has been filed against the cable upstart by a former employee who, by the way, says her legal action was a long time coming. On Friday, Catherine Dunn sued for wrongful termination and discrimination claiming she was fired because of her Multiple Sclerosis.According to E! Online, Dunn began her employment as an executive assistant at OWN in August 2008. As a result of a reportedly hostile work environment due to her disability, Dunn claims she was forced to take stress leave, as well as a leave of absence when her MS symptoms were exacerbated because of the workplace stress. Additionally, Dunns lawsuit states that while she was on leave, her position was filled by a non-disabled and younger employee. Dunn is seeking unspecified damages from the Oprah-owned network.When asked to comment on the already-filed charges, an OWN spokesperson told E! News: We have not seen the lawsuit. We are unaware of the claims. When and if we see something we will review appropriately.

50 Cent took a break from his various rap feuds yesterday (August 15th) to host a donor drive for Shannon Tavarez, an 11-year-old actress with Leukemia. The rapper and his G-Unity Foundation, along with DKMS, hosted thousands of potential donors at his Curtis Jackson Community Garden in Jamaica, Queens. 50 partnered with DKMS, the largest bone marrow donor center in the world, to host the drive for Tavaraz, who ultimately needs a bone marrow transplant.Over the course of two days, a record 4,000 people registered, in hopes of finding a matching blood donor for an operation that is slated to take place this week. Tavaraz, who starred as "Nala" in the Broadway version of The Lion King, is still in need of a bone marrow after being diagnosed with Leukemia in April of 2009. "A lot of kids don't have donors in their families, so they have to look to strangers to be the donor for them," 50 Cent told New York's Channel 7 Eyewitness News. Last week, a viral video of 50 Cent drove thousands more people to DKMS' facilities, where people swabbed in hopes of being a match for Tavarez.

Foxy Brown has been indicted on charges of violating an order of protection stemming from a 2007 confrontation with her neighbor in New York City. Brown was issued the order of protection after pleading guilty in 2008 to menacing her neighbor Arlene Raymond with her cell phone.According to prosecutors, Brown violated the order in July by screaming obscenities at neighbor Raymond before baring her buttocks at Raymond and showing her underwear. "Lottery Ticket Director Getting Sued"
A screenwriter has filed a lawsuit against the writers of the upcoming movie Lottery Ticket, which stars rappers Ice Cube and Bow Wow. According to the lawsuit, which was filed Wednesday (August 11th) in Los Angeles Superior Court, writer Tom Huang claims he wrote a treatment for a similar movie in 2004. TMZ.com reports that Huang allegedly passed the idea to his agent Brad Kaplan, who then allegedly gave it to Erik White,h the writer and director of Lottery Ticket. Huang claims the film ripped off various elements from his original treatment -- including "detailed plot elements, characters, and scenes." He is suing for an undisclosed amount. However, Huang states in the legal documents that he believes Lottery Ticket will make millions at the box office. According to the lawsuit, White has already denied stealing the script. Lottery Ticket hits theaters August 20th.

Nike and Jay-Z have teamed up for charity to create a limited edition sneaker. Nike's "All Black Everythings" are being made in conjunction with the World Basketball Festival, currently taking place in New York, August 12th-22nd. Only five pairs of the shoes are being created, each pair representing one of the five countries playing in the event. Jay-Z is the only other person in the world with each one of the five sneakers. The custom pairs are to be auctioned off to benefit The Shawn Carter Foundation, Jay-Z's non-profit. The rapper, born Earl Simmons, was released from the Los Angeles County Jail, after serving 18 days of a 90 day term for a reckless driving charge from 2002. DMX turned himself over to authorities on July 26th, just weeks after he was released from an Arizona prison for violating his probation when he tested positive for cocaine. "My relationship with with god is so much stronger," DMX stated the day he went into prison. He went on to say, "He's always had his hand on me. He always guided me. "I'm happy to have a chance to tell the truth about what happened," Brown told reporters while leaving the courthouse. "Today my focus is on telling the truth." "It feels so good to tell the truth," she added. "This thing has been such a nightmare." Currently there is no decision on whether Brown will face felony charges for violating a restraining order the woman, Arlene Raymond, had against her. The restraining order was obtained after a fight in which Brown allegedly hit Raymond with a Blackberry in 2007. The two were at it again last month and according to authorities, Brown flashed Raymond and cursed her out.
